Obituary

MaryRuth (Cooke) Metcalf, 87, of Bridgewater Borough, died peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice House – Wexford.

Born on March 24, 1937, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Allison Mae Best.

MaryRuth was a graduate of Rochester High School and had worked for Kaufmann’s Department Stores.  Most notably, MaryRuth was a devoted mother and homemaker.  She was a past member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church and had also volunteered her time at the Bridgewater Elementary School.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Metcalf.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Dennis) Bevington and Thomas (Cindy) Metcalf; grandchildren, Jacob (Crissy) Bevington, Samuel Bevington, Benjamin (Regina) Bevington, and Jeff Tracy; great-grandchildren, Sarah Bevington, Joshua Murphy, Chad Murphy, Lydia Casper, and Cassie Casper; her best friend, Jean Cornell; numerous relatives, and friends.

Friends will be received on Saturday, November 22nd from 2PM until time of services at 4PM in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver.

Private interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.

MaryRuth’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice House for their care and compassion shown during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Children’s Hospital, or the Salvation Army.

  3. My deepest sympathies to Mary Ruth’s family. I worked with Mary Ruth at Kaufmanns Rochester store. We had many fun talks, Mary Ruth was a very sweet lady and great to work with. R I P Mary Ruth.
