Obituary
Merle “Bill” W. Householder Jr., 95, of New Brighton PA., passed away on October 28, 2025 at Passavant Retirement Center in Zelienople.
Born in Beaver Falls, PA. on August 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Merle and Sarah (Miller) Householder Sr.
Bill graduated from Beaver Falls High School, and was an active member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in New Brighton. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan who faithfully followed his teams until the end. Bill served in the United States Marines, and was employed at Babcock and Wilcox for over 35 years. Bill enjoyed electrical work and was known to help his neighbors and friends. He was loved by all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill, known as ‘Pap’ to his beloved grandchildren, never missed a sports function, concert, or school activity. He even followed his great grandchildren’s activities, and his eyes would light up when they told him about their games and activities.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Balderson) Householder, and his sister, Gloria Householder. Bill and Marilyn were married nearly 70 years and were lovingly devoted to each other and their family.
Bill is survived by his children, Edward (Rebecca) Householder and Diane (Kenneth) Herrmann; his grandchildren, Kristi (Anthony) Colangelo, Kelsey (George) Hankewycz, and Eric (Megan) Herrmann, Kyle (Rachel) Householder, Jennifer (Nathan) Davis; his great-grandchildren, Morgan Colangelo, Reagan Colangelo, Savanna Hankewycz, Lincoln Hankewycz, Genevieve Hankewycz, Aubrey Hankewycz; and his brothers; Charles Householder and John Householder.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Trinity Oaks personal care home, Ellwood City, for their excellent support and care for Bill.
All services for Bill were private. The GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, Inc., 1133 Penn Ave New Brighton, PA 15066, was honored to care for Bill and his family during this most difficult time.
