Obituary
Peter H. Zwieryznski, 86, of Beaver Falls, died peacefully at UPMC Shadyside Hospital on Monday, April 17, 2017. Born June 18, 1930, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Stanley and Katherine (Gurniak) Zwieryznski. Peter was a member of St. Monica’s Church (formerly St. Philomena’s.) Peter’s life was centered around and grounded in his love of family. He was born into a family of nine siblings; their bond lasted his entire life and meant a great deal to him. He met his wife Sylvia early on and through 60 years of marriage they built a family of their own. His roles as husband, father and grandfather gave him a deep sense of purpose and he was dedicated to providing for and supporting them. He worked for over 35 years in his career at B&W to do just that. Outside of his career, Peter also loved to create. He went to art school early on, and his creativity and passion for making stayed with him to his last days. He used his hands to paint and problem solve, building everything from homes to wooden airplanes to birdhouses and inventions to solve everyday problems, as well playing music on numerous instruments, such his harmonica, accordion and guitar. His sense of civic duty and Christian faith also founded his desire to give back to his community. He served his country for over 30 years in the Air National Guard and served his local community through the American Legion, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was also passionate about being an active citizen and shared his voice through his many “Letters to the Editor” contributions. Peter’s love for his family was quiet and steadfast, and it guided him through his entire life. We are eternally grateful for your love and dedication, and are forever shaped and changed by it. We will miss you dearly ?? both your jokes and your hollers ?? every day. And we will not once forget how it felt to be loved by you. Peter is survived by three children, Peter (Jodi) Zwieryznski Jr., Stephen Zwieryznski and LouAnn Zwieryznski; nine grandchildren, Petey (Kelli) Zwieryznski, Leanne Zwieryznski, Kelly Zwieryznski, Steve Zwieryznski Jr., Meikaela Zwieryznski, Stephanie Zwieryznski, Shawn (Amanda) Zwieryznski, Sarah Simmons, and Shane Zwieryznski; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Joyce) Zwieryznski and Paul Zurinski and one sister, Anne Sentak. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Sylvia Ann Zwieryznski; three sons, Michael, Joseph and Anthony Zwieryznski; five brothers, Joseph, Larry, Stanley (Hoppy), Michael (Ziggy) and Richard and one sister, Lucy Jadyck.
