Obituary

Philip Shiloh Icenhour

Beaver

Philip Shiloh Icenhour, 57, of Beaver, left this world after a seven year fight with cancer on Jan 25. He passed peacefully with his devoted mother and sisters by his side. Despite his illness, Shiloh courageously forged ahead, planning his next adventures. Shiloh was a 1983 graduate of Beaver Area Senior High, where he excelled in all athletics. After three years of success on the track, Shiloh helped lead the baseball team to the 1983 State Championships. But above all else, Shiloh found his calling on the gridiron. A two-time Dapper Dan Award winner, Shiloh helped lead  the team to back-to-back WPIAL  championships in 1981 and 1982 under the guidance of Coach Pat Tarquinio. He had the honor of receiving the Kay Lewis Award in 1983. Shiloh attended Washington & Jefferson College where he played baseball, football, lacrosse, became a Brother of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and graduated in 1988. Many times he would ask his dad, “Where do you want me to hit one?”. He always delivered! Shiloh was humble, never speaking of his many achievements. His outgoing personality drew him into sales, and eventually to USA Pan where he worked until his illness. Shiloh is preceded in death by his father, Philip Jay Icenhour. He leaves to mourn his son, River Shiloh Icenhour. He also leaves his heartbroken mother, Ethel Icenhour, sisters Janey (Cliff) Conklin and Heather (Curt) Neish, and his partner, Linda Biezad. His quick wit and inappropriate remarks will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Haley (John) Thorpe, Trae Conklin, Spencer Conklin, Camden Neish, Hadley (Dalton) Bolles, Oliver Neish, and Skylar Moore. Among those who held a place in his heart are his supportive aunt Margie (Dennis) Dugan, his special aunt Mary Elizabeth, and  Sherri Herstine-Icenhour, River’s mother. Friends will be received at Todd Funeral Home on Sunday, January 30th from 2-4 and 6-8.  Funeral service will  be held at Todd Funeral Home on Monday January 31st at 1:00 conducted by Dr. William Silver. A Luncheon will be provided at First Presbyterian Church. Shiloh would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it; so in lieu of flowers, We ask that you honor Shiloh’s generous nature by performing a random act of kindness to someone in need.

One in a million kinda guy…big time loss.

I could only pray to have a heart as big as Shiloh’s which far exceeded his physique. He brought a smile onto my face and into my life any and every time we’d run into each other. Jesus put Shiloh into our lives to let us know how much He loves us.

  3. Other than being just a good dude, my favorite athletic moment was when Shiloh earned me my only varsity letter. In a track meet we had well in hand, coach put me in the 4×400 relay for some reason (I ran hurdles-poorly). Joe Pontoli refused to give up the 2nd leg (slowest runner), so I had to run the 3rd. Unsurprisingly, I turned a 20 meter lead into a 40 meter deficit before handing off to Shiloh. He caught the other team’s anchor in the first 100 meters, chatted him up a bit, then smoked him with about 50 meters to spare. I got just enough points for my letter on a classic Shiloh moment. Thanks Shiloh. RIP. Take it easy on those LBs up there.
