Obituary

Regis L. Benden, 87, dearly beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle and lifelong resident of West Mayfield, Beaver Falls, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Heritage Valley ““ Beaver.

Born on April 19, 1934, in West Mayfield, Regis was the son of the late Howard Michael and Lillian Pearl (Harr) Benden.

Rege was honorably discharged from the US Army October 31, 1962, he was a member of the West Mayfield Veteran’s Club, a 50-year member of the National Laborer’s Union of North America, Laborers’ Local #833, and a lifetime member of St Monica’s parish.  A man who didn’t shy away from a hard day’s work, he was also the family tradesman finishing many concrete floors and driveways and could repair, replumb or rewire anything.  He provided many adventures for himself and his family with his motor home camping, fishing, snowmobiling, football tailgating in Happy Valley, sight-seeing, relative visiting and hunting.  The latter being his favorite hobby, his pursuits took him through much of much of North America and not always to the neighbors liking, shared his successful pursuits by putting antlers and skulls on his garage.   Most importantly, Regis loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Regis was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years,  Eleanor Benden who was the source and summit of everything he held dear; his siblings, Homer Benden, Lyman Benden, Freida Estermyer, Faber Benden, and Aloysius Benden.

Regis was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his children, Howard (Kerstin) Benden, Linda Alberti, and Denise (Brian) Covalt; grandchildren, Mark (Heather Kenner) Alberti, Brett (Amber Fox) Alberti, Ben Valdes, Eddie Covalt, and Ella Benden; a great-grandchild, Collin Alberti; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private visitation will be held.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12 Noon at St. Monica Roman Catholic Church.  Fr. Kim Schreck will serve as celebrant.  In consideration of all in attendance, the family ask that you mask and social distance.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

  1. He was a awesome father and husband. And a great neighbor. Grew up with his kids. He loved life and always seen him at eat and park on thd weekends. God has received a amazing man and angel. You will be missed my friend
