Richard A. "Rich" Polas, 76, of Chippewa Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in his residence.

Born May 5, 1947, in Sewickley, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Kirish) Polas.  A graduate of Ambridge Area High School, he went on to earn his Master's Degree in Industrial Arts from California State University, PA.  He was a teacher in the Big Beaver Falls Area School District, retiring after 30 years of service. Thereafter, he went on to work at The Home Depot in Chippewa Twp. for over 20 years.

Rich had an exceptional talent to design and craft many major construction projects throughout the years, including his own home.  Never one to shy away from hard work, he also created unique custom projects and gifts for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Keba) Polas; his daughter, Natasha (Brad) Hazelwood; his son, Jacob Polas; his grandson, Montgomery "Monty" Hazelwood; his brother, Kenneth Polas; numerous cousins and other family members, all of whom he greatly loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Bret Polas.

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00pm until the time of a Panahida service at 7:00pm in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. – 117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa Twp.: www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com .
