The Honorable Robert Clark Reed

Formerly of Beaver

The Honorable Robert Clark Reed passed away on October 30, 2021 at the age of 88 in Canton, Michigan.  "Bob", to his family and friends, was born to Clark and Ethel Reed on November 19, 1932 in Midland, Pennsylvania.  A graduate of Mercersburg Academy and then later Dickinson College, Robert went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army for two years.  Robert married Gretchen Sohn on June 14, 1958.  Enrolling together in the University of Pittsburgh Law School, the two were the first married couple in Pennsylvania to be admitted to the bar together in 1963.  Robert was elected in 1974 as a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County, after an historically close election.  He continued proudly serving as a judge for the next 37 years, including eighteen years as President Judge.  Robert retired from the bench at the age of 78.  Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen Reed, who passed away in 2009.  He is survived by two sons, David Reed, Brighton Township, and Grant (Tiffany) Reed, Canton, Michigan; a daughter, Cynthia (Dan) Ramsay, Seattle Washington; a sister, Elizabeth (Dave) Walker, and seven grandchildren, Maxwell, Alex, Sam, Jack, and Elise Reed, and Ben and Molly Ramsay.  

Friends will be received Friday, November 5th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Todd Funeral Home, 340 3rd St., Beaver, PA.  (www.toddfuneralhome.net)  A service will be held at Todd Funeral Home at 1pm on Saturday, November 6th, with a reception afterwards at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, 252 College Ave, Beaver PA.
