Obituary
Stella “Joan” (Vasas) Verner, 82, of Chippewa Township, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at her residence, joining her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles “Chuck” Verner, who passed on October 14, 2024, after a lengthy illness during which Joan remained faithfully by his side.
Born in Beaver Falls on September 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Michael Jr. and Stella (Demczenski) Vasas.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose steady presence and unwavering love were the heart of her family. She is survived by her children, Sharlynn Verner, Brian (Andrea) Verner, and Jeffrey (Charmaine) Verner, and by her cherished grandson, Benaiah Michael Verner, who was a blessing and brought her immeasurable joy.
Joan found joy in the simple rhythms of life. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and caring for her home, creating a warm and welcoming space for those she loved.
After graduating from Beaver Falls High School, Joan worked in administrative coordination at Mayer China. She was deeply committed to her community, serving on the Blackhawk School Board, including time as its President, and later as the Chippewa Township Tax Collector.
In accordance with her wishes, funeral services were private. Joan’s interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Township, which had the honor of caring for Joan and her family.

Joan was a knowledgeable and wonderful person I got to know serving with her as a Blackhawk School board member. She loved serving her community. Rest in peace Joan and sympathy to her family.
