Obituary

Susan Van Newkirk, 66, of Hopewell Township, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

Born in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Cider) Lavrich. 

She is survived by her husband, Frank Komoroski; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tiffany Van Newkirk; her two grandchildren, Noah Van Newkirk and Clare Van Newkirk; her two sisters, Margaret Hamilton and Mary Anne (Eric) Lineberry; and her four brothers, James (Norma) Lavrich, Thomas Lavrich, Henry Lavrich and Steven Lavrich.

Susan dedicated her life to building up others.  It is through the lives she touched that her memory lives.  Susan always cared and donated to various children’s programs. We felt it was fitting to honor her in this way.  Memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to Brenner Children’s Hospital – Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.  Checks may be mailed to Brenner Children’s Hospital, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157.

As per Susan’s wishes, there will be no public visitation at this time; however, Susan’s family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice and to her niece, Dawn Hamilton, for all their wonderful work in keeping her comfortable.
