Velma M. Speer

Velma M. Speer, 82, of Edgecomb Apartments, Monaca, formerly of Freedom and Beaver, passed away Monday April 28 in her home. She was born July 17, 1931 in East Liverpool, OH and was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Jessie (Josephine) Koerber McGaffic. Velma had at one time worked as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone in Rochester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Speer in 1993 and 3 sisters, Dorothy Coward, Georgianna Minton and Patricia Barnett, and a brother, Leonard McGaffic.

She is survived by a sister, Judith (Gary) Jarrard, North Olmstead, OH and 3 brothers, James (Violet) McGaffic, Raccoon Township, Robert (Linda) McGaffic, Aliquippa and Duane (Jean) McGaffic, Beaver, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Todd Funeral Home, 340 Third Street, Beaver where a funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 AM by Reverend Mark Boyd of the Park Presbyterian Church of Beaver. Interment was in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
