Obituary
Virginia A. “Jean” Hutchinson passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on October 30, 2023 in Florida at the age of 101 years.
Jean was born September 12, 1922, in Freedom, Pennsylvania.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Hutchinson whom she married in 1946, by her parents, Mary and Bruno Spataro, her brother, Anthony Spataro, and his wife, Ann Spataro Oros, her sister, Antoinette Vrancich, her brother-in-law, Edward Hallisey, her dear partner of many years, William Trushel, and her son-in-law, Carl E. Scholl. Jean Hutchinson is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean Scholl, her granddaughter, Serena Clementson of Florida, her grandson, Benjamin Carl Scholl of Washington State, her great granddaughter, Margaret Scholl, her sister, Mary Jane Hallisey, and by Jack Mallard, whom she considered her “honorary son”, as well as nieces and nephews.
Jean loved to travel through the United States, Canada, Europe, the Holy Land and Egypt. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, crochet, and crafts. Virginia “Jean” Hutchinson served on the Prayer Care Ministry Team at Pathway Chippewa Free Church until she was 98 years old. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor as well as a manager for H & R Block Tax Consultants. Jean was a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, a second soprano with the Sounds of Pittsburgh Sweet Adeline and Golden Valley Chorus of Sweet Adeline International. She was also a volunteer for the Crimson Line Auxiliary of the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center and the Beaver Valley Hospital. She was a member of the North Hills Square Dancing Club, The Senior Citizens Bowling League, and a volunteer for the Medical Center in Beaver.
Jean spent the last two years of her life at Cypress Palms Assisted Living in Largo, Florida where she was close to family and among Cypress Palms friends. She is lovingly remembered for her fervent faith in Christ and willingness to give others a hug and say” I love you”.
Friends will be received Wednesday, November 8th from 10am until time of services at 11am at Pathway Church- 239 Braun Road, Beaver Falls PA 15010.
Private interment will take place in Petersburg Cemetery.
