Obituary

Walter S. Tettenburn, 89, Of Industry, formerly of Beaver, passed away Friday August 9 in Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Brighton Township. He was born January 4, 1924 in Keyser, WV and was the son of the late Thomas E. and Lena R. Tettenburn. Walt had lived in Industry since 2005 and formerly lived in Beaver.

He was a graduate of Keyser High School, Bethlehem Shipbuilding School in Baltimore and got training in monument engraving at Smith Monument Co. He had worked at Marshall Granite Works in Rochester and also worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Vanport from where he retired after 35 years service. Walt was an Army veteran serving in Germany at the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhineland and Central Europe and received 3 Battle Stars and a Bronze Star for Valor. Walt loved woodworking and made many beautiful projects, such as the choir loft, communion stands with inlaid tops and pew repairs at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Beaver where he had been a member.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Evaline, a son Steven (Lonnette) Tettenburn, Brighton Township, a daughter Carmen (James) Frankenstein, Moon Township, 3 grandchildren, David (Jill) Franke, Jeffrey (Hillary) Frankenstein and Lindsey Tettenburn, a great-granddaughter, Hannah Lee Frankenstein and a brother Frank (Caroline) Tettenburn, Keyser, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Howard, Elwood, Richard and Frederick and a sister Barbara.

Friends were received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Todd Funeral Home, 340 Third Street, Beaver. Interment was in Beaver Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, Brodhead Road, Monaca, PA.

They also want to thank all their good neighbors for their help and thoughtfulness, especially Mr. and Mrs. Neil Daniels.
