Obituary

William James “Weasel” Early, 57, of New Brighton, PA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in his residence.

Weasel was born October 23, 1966, in New Brighton, PA to William E. Early and the late Ann (Lamey) Early. He was a loving father, brother and friend. He retired from the Chippewa Police Department after 30 years of service where he held positions as Patrolman, Sergeant and Lieutenant Detective. Weasel loved being a police officer and had a true passion for it. He was viewed by many officers as a top-notch detective and was the “go to guy” in the county.

He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, both watching them and as a participant. He had very fond memories of playing baseball as a young man with his lifelong friends from grade school. He also enjoyed time at camp with these same guys hunting and fishing and telling very tall tales. He also enjoyed hanging out at the Eagles Club in the afternoons watching game shows and Pittsburgh sports with a whole different set of buddies.

Weasel was so very proud of his son “lil weaz” particularly when he was a member of the US Army. He also got great enjoyment out of coaching and watching him play baseball as a youngster. He often said I wish I could hunt fish and golf like I used to so I could do it with “lil weaz” who he loved very much.

In addition to his father Bill, he is survived by his son, Christopher “lil weaz” Early; mother of his son, Shellie Early; a sister, Cynthia (Dan DeBolt) Early; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Early DeBolt.

Friends will be received on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton, 15066.

  1. My heart is hurt knowing that your gone and I cant call you and tell you all the stupid things I did. You taught me a lot over the years, life lessons (which I never listened) and how to be a good Police Officer. There are so many stories we shared and fun we had, you will be truly missed. – Shells Bells

    To the Early Family

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ comfort you. May our hope be in the resurrection and Eternal Life granted to those who believe in the Savior.
Plain and simple, Weasel was awesome. And his group of lifelong friends…my brother Sam, Dos, Butthead and others….are awesome. Weasel was a man who was easy to love. It was a pleasure watching him grow up from Little League through his career in Law Enforcement.
    Shalom (peace) to all.
