Evelyn I. Groves, 76, of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.Born December 31, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary McCann.She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Groves and her fianc?? James Neal Jr.; her grandson, Zachary Groves, and seven sisters.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.Per Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.Friends and family are invited to attend a blessing for Evelyn on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Rochester Turners, 338 Pennsylvania Avenue, Rochester PA 15074.Arrangements were handled by GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton, gabauerfamily funeralhomes.com.

You can go through life and make new friends every year–every month practically–but there was never any substitute for those friendships of childhood that survive into adult years. Those are the ones in which we are bound to one another with hoops of steel. If there were one thing I could tell Evelyn – If you should die before me, ask if you can bring a friend.
