Obituary

Gerald Wesley “Skip” Crizer Jr.

Brighton Township

BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP – Gerald Wesley “Skip” Crizer Jr. of Brighton Township passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 6, 2021 at the age of 78. Skip was preceded in death by his parents Gerald Sr. and Alice (Schwartz) Crizer and sister Jill. Skip is survived by his loving wife Joan (Lathey) of 58 years, son Jay and wife Kelly (Brack) and grandchildren Caden and Colten, and daughter Jeri (Crizer) Kanuch and her husband James and grandchildren Nathaniel and Hannah. Skip was born on September 24, 1942 in Monaca, Pennsylvania. He grew up running the hills around Beaver County with his best friends Johnny and Jim and getting into what Skip once described as the “occasional mischief.” Skip worked as a floor covering specialist for 60 years. He especially enjoyed his time at Penn Tile and Carpet in Aliquippa at which he spent 35 years before retiring. A devoted follower of Christ along with his wife, Joan, Skip was a long-time member of Beaver Valle Church of God. He rooted on the Pittsburgh Steelers every Sunday. Skip’s interests were diverse. He passed along a tremendous love of country music to everyone in his family and considered Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash as his favorite artists. Skip frequently walked along the Ohio River searching for Native American artifacts and amassed a large collection of arrowheads. He spent many a week of summers at White Hall Camp & Conference Center in Emlenton, PA worshipping the Lord with his family and going on long hikes. Skip loved spending time in the woods and being with nature. He and his son, Jay, hunted across the Pennsylvania game lands. That is, of course, when Skip was able to stay awake. Skip and his daughter, Jeri, shared countless practical jokes, and Skip would never fail to get a shock and then a big laugh when Jeri would tip his chair over while he was napping. Skip and Joan didn’t waste a single second of time together, from watching The Voice to going out to dinner to just sitting in silence and holding hands before bed. Skip leaves behind an incredible legacy for everyone who has been blessed to know him. Friends and family will be received at Todd Funeral Home (340 3rd Street, Beaver, PA 15009) on July 9, 2021 from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. The service will be at Todd Funeral Home on July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM. There will be no internment following the service.
