Obituary

Mary A. Platz, 84, of Chippewa Township, died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Heritage Valley Beaver.Born January 7, 1933 in Beaver Falls, the daughter of the late Dominic and Teresa (Morelli) Chiappetta.Mary was lovingly known by her Grandchildren as Mo and as Gee Gee by her Great Grandchildren. She was very active in planning and leading many charity and social events as the President of the Beaver Falls Junior Women’s Club, Chippewa Women’s Club, Career & Business Women’s Club and Christian Mothers. She served her church community as a Eucharistic Minister. Mary lived her life in constant selfless service to her family and community.Surviving is her loving husband of 65 years, Merle A. Platz, two sons and their wives, Michael A. and Bonnie Platz, and Mark A. and Cindy Platz; a daughter and her husband, Anna Marie and Douglas Schlack; seven grandchildren, Leah Platz, Leslie (Alan) Kirkland, Laura (Gregg) Wurst, Dr. Marcus Platz, Megan Platz, Suzanne (Albert) LeFebvre, and Amanda Schlack; three great-grandchildren, Eva Kirkland, Aylah Schlack, and Brooklyn Schlack; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn (Chiappetta) Kessell. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-8 pm in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where prayers will be offered Friday at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 3357 Constitution Blvd. Darlington Twp.Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
