Obituary

Michael L. McHale, 78, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Chippewa Twp., went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 21, 2023 in his residence.

Born February 3, 1945 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Marie (Zellmer) McHale.

Michael had a deep love of God and was devoted member of Pathway Church.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Michael was a 1963 graduate of Peabody High School and had worked for Johnson’s Printing, Herbick & Held, and was a printer for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, where he retired following more than 30 years of faithful service. In his free time, Michael enjoyed music and movies, car shows, baseball, and the Steelers.  He had a love for animals and was proud of his many dogs throughout the years.  Michael will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy J. McHale; his sister, Carol Ann Russell; and his brother-in-law, Frank Russell.

He is survived by his son, Wesley Dale Hall; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hall; his brother, Patrick (Linda) McHale; and his sister, Mary Ellen (Michael) Schaltenbrand.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, August 31st, at 11AM at Pathway Church- 239 Braun Rd., Chippewa Twp. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., was honored to provide care and guidance to Michael’s family during this time.

    My deepest condolences.

    I had the privilege of working with Mike at the Post-Gazette and knew him to be a kind man. He will be deeply missed and well remembered by all who new him.
